A jejunoileal duplication diagnosed by Tc-99m pertechnetate abdominal scintigraphy.

Alimentary tract duplications are uncommon congenital anomalies. Although most are symptomatic by the age of 2 years, some remain asymptomatic until adulthood. In one third of all cases, heterotopic gastric mucosa lines the wall of dupli­ cation, and may cause peptic ulceration, gastrointestinal bleed­ ing, fistulization or perforation. We report in this paper, a case of jejunoileal duplication featuring gastric mucosal lin­ ing, which presented with gastrointestinal bleeding. The anomaly was diagnosed preoperatively by Tc-99m pertechnetate abdominal imaging.
